You have probably heard this lively expression when Las Vegas enters the room. Did you know that Viva Las Vegas translates in Spanish to “Long Live Las Vegas” and is often used to show appreciation for the city of lights.? This phrase became popular when Elvis Presley started using it in the 1960s and continues to be part of the Las Vegas tapestry. Did you know that The King of Rock & Roll had a seven year residency at the what is now known as the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino which began in July 31, 1969 and ended after 636 SOLD OUT performances in December 1976? This show is credited with introducing Rock & Roll to the glamorous Las Vegas stage. The King had a very long and successful residency but today artists perform much shorter, yet still fabulous, spotlights here in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Some of the specatular star lineups in The City of Lights include Celine Dion, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Rod Stewart, Adele, Donny & Marie Osmond, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, and Mariah Carey… just to name a few. The reason that I am sharing so much about Las Vegas Residencies is because I love taking advantage of the variety of entertainment that this city has to offer. In a future post I will share with you the Vegas shows that I have seen and my hack for being able to soak up so much entertainment!
